1. Purpose: Define the awards and recognition guidelines for participants and winners in the BMWDFW Annual Mileage Contest.
2. Theme: Highest mileage is the superlative goal for this BMW contest. However; awards cover a range of mileage achievements of participating members and will reflect the level of achievement in appearance and inscription.
3. Rules: Rules are also found on the back of the hardcopy BMWDFW Mileage Contest entry form available from the club Secretary. The form can be found on the club website under “Contests” then “Rules & Forms”.
BMWDFW Mileage Contest Guidelines
- Top three finishers should be able to provide verification of mileage upon request (service, gas or tire receipts).
- When filling in miles, always put total miles of the bike whether under or over 100K.
- Mileage must be on a BMW motorcycle.
- Entrant must be a member of BMWDFW in good standing.
- Please indicate if distance ridden is in Kilometers.
- If you trade bikes or change odometers during the contest, send in the Final Mileage and the new Starting Mileage within four weeks. (If a loaner or rental bike is used, please identify the bike and miles separately from other bikes).
- Mileage readings that are not on the official form will be accepted.
- Start and Finish forms will not be accepted at the same time at the end of the contest unless verification of starting mileage can be provided.
4. Winner Criteria: High mileage is the primary criteria for these awards but four additional mileage awards will be presented. The High Mileage awards will be presented to the three members who rode:
1st Place: The most miles ridden.
1st Runner Up: The next lower number of miles (second place).
2nd Runner Up: The next lower number of miles (third place).
An award will be presented to the member riding the number of miles closest to the mean number of miles ridden by all entrants.
An award will be presented to the member riding the fewest miles of all entrants.
5. Awards and Acknowledgement:
The First Place winner will receive a plaque at the Annual Awards Banquet so inscribed. It shall be unique from the other plaques and properly represent the prestige of the achievement.
The Second Place participant will receive a plaque at the Annual Awards Banquet so inscribed. The plaque will properly represent the prestige of the achievement.
The Third Place participant will receive a plaque at the Annual Awards Banquet so inscribed. The plaque will properly represent the prestige of the achievement.
The Mean Mileage Rider will receive a plaque at the Annual Awards Banquet so inscribed. The plaque will properly represent the prestige of the achievement.
The Low Mileage Rider will receive a plaque at the Annual Awards Banquet so inscribed. The plaque will properly represent the prestige of the achievement.
All winners will be featured on the website after the awards banquet.
